On May 27-28, 2025, the 24th annual conference National Maintenance Forum 2025 took place, organized by the Slovak Maintenance Society - SSU

The conference is the top Slovak event in the field of maintenance, where maintenance managers and specialists, representatives of leading companies offering maintenance services and solutions, maintenance managers and technicians from major companies from a wide range of industries, as well as experts from academia, have been regularly meeting since 2000. From the beginning, the conference has tried to cover the widest possible aspects of maintenance, and the composition of participants, which is often quite diverse, corresponds to this.

The conference in 2025 ranked among the years with high participation, although it fell short of the previous two, which had over 250 participants. 227 participants were registered, of which 37 were foreign - 32 from the Czech Republic, 2 from Austria and 1 each from Poland, Spain and Turkey. The conference had one general partner (ORLEN Unipetrol Slovakia s.r.o.) and four main partners (INSEKO, a.s., Klüber Lubrication, SKF Slovakia, s.r.o and TPG - strojársky veľkoplň s.r.o.), another 19 partners and 8 exhibitors, which was again at the limit of the capacity of the hotel premises.

Conference programme

The conference program has its proven structure in the form of a one and a half day conference. The program included 29 lectures, one less than in previous years, in order to finish the program on the first day by 5:00 PM and leave more time for relaxation. The session time was also maintained to allow sufficient space for discussion after each lecture. The time after lunch allocated for visits to exhibitors was shortened because of the earlier end of the lectures on the first day.

The program begins with a ceremonial opening, during which the conference was greeted by guests - the representative of the general partner of this year's conference, ORLEN Unipetrol Slovakia s.r.o., Ing. Tomáš Hrnčiarik, a member of the board of directors of the Czech Maintenance Society (ČSPÚ), Ing. Jan Novák, and the president of the SUZ, Ing. Gabriel Zsilinszki, who dedicated a commemorative diploma on the 25th anniversary of the founding of the SSU.

Traditionally, the SSU awards are presented at the conference. The SSU award "Maintainer of the Year 2024" was awarded to Ing. Vladimír Oravčík, technical and service specialist at SKF Slovakia, s.r.o. The SSU award for "Diploma Thesis" was received by Ing. Pavol Dzurik for the work entitled: "Design of autonomous maintenance of a robotic painting line for railway wagons", graduate of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Žilina in Žilina, supervisor of the work doc. Ing. Juraj Grenčík, PhD.

The professional program was opened by the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of SSU, Ing. Branislav Kyseľ, PhD., who presented new activities and the vision of SSU for the next years and Prof. Hana Pačaiová, who spoke in more detail about training projects for maintenance workers from practice.

The introductory block was followed by a lecture from the general partner of the conference, ORLEN Unipetrol Slovakia s.r.o., where the main areas of the company's activities were presented by Ing. Tomáš Hrnčiarik and then Mr. Tomasz Szczytko from the Polish PKN ORLEN presented Comprehensive Lubrication Management at ORLEN. This was followed by lectures by the main partners - Ing. Ladislav Chalánek from SKF CZ presented Use of online diagnostics for detecting damage to rolling bearings, examples from practice, Ladislav Belanec and Róbert Hajduk from INSEKO, a.s. presented Smart solutions not only for maintenance, Stanislav Slaminka from TPG - strojársky veľkobchod s.r.o. spoke on the topic of Overhauling Industrial Robots in Industry 4.0 and Mustafa Nezih Namal from Klüber Lubrication gave a lecture on the topic of Advancements in High Energy-Efficient Gear Oils for Critical Application - the lecture was given in English, similar to the year before.

The next conference program included sessions with topics focused on Innovative maintenance technologies and the use of information technologies in maintenance. On the second day, there were sessions on Predictive maintenance and diagnostics and Progressive technologies and safety in maintenance. At the end of the program, representatives of the Dual Academy gave a lecture on the topic "With professional education, we increase your potential for success in the world of technology." This year, too, there were outdoors presentations with demonstrations of occupational safety technology (Dräger).

Results of the participant survey:

The survey was in the proven electronic form of filling out a questionnaire using Google forms accessible via QR code. The questions have been the same since 2001, which allows for comparison of individual years. Prize winners were drawn from the submitted survey responses. 78 responses were sent, which is 34%, slightly better than last year (32%).

The results of the survey are presented in tables and a comparison of ratings for all grades is presented in a graph.

The rating is practically the same as last year, but still a little better, except for the conference venue (still the best rated) and the date, but there is high satisfaction with that, too. Overall, the rating remains very favourable and confirms the high standard of the event.

In addition to the questionnaire, the organizer also received several individual responses by email, all in a "complimentary" spirit, which is pleasing, but also obliging and inspiring.

Participants again rated the three presentations they liked the most. The ranking was determined solely by the number of votes received.
