Dear friends,

         After the forced break caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the jubilee 20th year of the international conference National Maintenance Forum 2021 was held on an alternate date on the 26th-27th. November 2021 and at the last minute due to the worsened pandemic situation, at an alternate location at the Holiday Inn Trnava hotel.        

         Nevertheless, the conference turned out to be very successful and all participants highly appreciated the opportunity to meet face-to-face again after almost 2.5 years and share their experiences, make new contacts and learn about news and trends in the field of maintenance.

        194 participants were initially registered for the conference, of which 169 participants actually presented themselves, of which 144 were domestic and 25 foreign - 21 from the Czech Republic, 2 from Germany and 2 from Hungary, which we consider a great success considering the difficult period.

        The mission of the conference is: "To bring up-to-date information of a high professional level and create suitable conditions for the exchange of experience of experts in maintenance from Slovakia and abroad" and this is what the organizers constantly strive for.

          An overview of the development of the number of participants for all conferences held from 2000 to 2021 is documented in the following graph.    

        The conference programme was in the usual model of a one and a half day conference. 32 lectures were included in the program, but not all of them took place due to cancellations. This created a wider space for discussion of the lectures, which was really used in many cases.

          The SSU Prizes were awarded at the conference. The first of them is the SSU "Maintainer of the Year" award. This year, it was won by the head of the Total productive maintenance project team at Lycos-Trnavské sladovne spol. s r.o. - Ing. Aleš Nemeškal.  

           Ing. Aleš Nemeškal together with Milano Backo from the Continental Rubber Matador achieved  SSU award for the Best final thesis of Maintenance Manager course.

        For the sixteenth time, the SSU diploma thesis prize was awarded. This year, two graduates received it: Ing. Silvester Hradiský, graduate of the specialisation of Vehicle Maintenance from the Department of Transport and Handling Machines, SjF, University of Žilina, for diploma thesis on the topic: "Use of terrestrial 3D scanning for the diagnosis of storage tanks", under the supervision of Professor Peter Zvolenský, and Ing. Michaela Kohútová, graduate of the chemical and food machinery and equipment program at the Institute of Process Engineering SjF STU in Bratislava on the topic: "Pipeline design at the Čpavok 4 operation" under the supervision of  Ing. Martin Juriga, PhD.

          The participants again evaluated the three lectures they liked the most. This year, only one lecture was not presented even once, which means that the vast majority of lectures caught the attention of at least someone.
