Conference laguages: Slovak, Czech, English – translating (according to the number of foreign participants).

In 2024, the conference came close to last year's record in terms of participation. 251 participants were registered, of which 212 domestic and 39 foreign - 33 from the Czech Republic, 2 each from Germany, Austria and Italy. In addition to one general partner (SKF Slovakia, s.r.o.), the conference had five main partners (Eustream, a.s., FAREN SLOVAKIA, s.r.o., Klüber Lubrication, Magna Electronics Slovakia s.r.o., SMC Priemyselná automatization, s.r.o.) another 21 partners and 6 exhibitors, which was again at the limit of the hotel's capacity.

Conference programme

The conference programme has its proven structure in the form of a one and a half day conference. The programme included 30 lectures, similar to previous years. Despite the large number, there was always room for discussion after each lecture. At the same time, on the first day after lunch, time was also set aside for exhibitors' visits. It is worth considering shortening the program by an hour, even at the cost of fewer lectures, and giving participants more time to relax after a demanding first day.

The programme begins with a ceremonial opening, during which the guests greeted the conference - the representative of the general partner of this year's conference, SKF Slovakia, s.r.o., Ing. Ladislav Máťaš, and member of the board of directors of the Czech Maintenance Company (ČSPÚ), Ing. Jan Novák.

SSU awards are traditionally presented at the conference. The SSU "Maintenance of the Year 2023" award was again won by two candidates - Ing. Peter Darvaši, head of maintenance at Continental Tires Slovakia, s.r.o. Púchov and Ing. Ferdinand Chromek, maintenance manager at EURO PUMPS TECH, s.r.o. Jaslovské Bohunice. The SSU award for "Diploma thesis" out of 4 nominated papers was won by Ing. Veronika Počuchová for the work entitled: "Proposal for the implementation of totally productive maintenance in Lear Corporation Seating Slovakia s.r.o." graduate, MtF STU Trnava. Finally, the SSU Award for "Best Final Thesis Maintenance Manager" was awarded to Ing. Jaroslav Obšivan, for the work entitled: "Method of measuring and evaluating the vibrations of V-belts in Continental Tires Slovakia, s.r.o."

During the opening sesstion, the chairman of the board of SSU, Ing. Gabriel Dravecký, PhD. presented a n overview of SSU activities and plans for the next years.

The introductory block was followed by a lecture by the general partner of the conference, SKF Slovensko spol. s.r.o., where the company's activities in the field of bearing maintenance and diagnostics and its impact on machinery were presented by Ing. Ladislav Máťaš and Ing. Tomáš Buxar. The presentation was entitled: "SKF Your trusted partner in the circular economy". They were joined by Mgr. Vít Šebesta from the company ESOS Ostrava, who presented practical examples of the application of SKF technology - Recondoil. He was followed by Ing. Filip Kováč from the company SMC Priemyselná automatizacía, spol. Ltd. with the lecture: "Industry 4.0 tools for the operation of equipment with minimized compressed air consumption", where he presented the possibilities of saving energy in more efficient use of compressed air with the help of advanced control tools. The lectures were interesting and provoked an interesting discussion.

In the morning session, professor Hana Pačaiová from the Technical University of Košice spoke on the current topic: "Requirements for sustainability in maintenance". The representatives of the main partners of the conference continued. Ing. Štefan Kacvinský from Magna Electronics Slovakia s.r.o. spoke about the creation of a maintenance process in a start-up company, Ing. Róbert Grellneth, director of FAREN SLOVAKIA, s.r.o. presented Total Fluid Management and finally Özgür Ergün from Klüber Lubrication pointed out the possibilities of increasing energy efficiency using high-quality lubricants in the energy industry. The last lecture was in English, and for the first time at NFU, no interpretation was needed, which indicates the improvement of the language level of the participants.

In the continuing conference programme, the topics of predictive maintenance and diagnostics and progressive maintenance technologies prevailed. Again, there were more presentations on the use of information technology in maintenance and also in the area of safety, where on the first day there was also a demonstration of the use of a fire-resistant tarpaulin, which is widely used in extinguishing fires of electric cars in case of car battery fires. The program was also diversified by a demonstration of the use of drones from Terradron directly in the lecture hall. At the end of the program, Ing, Soňa Sopóci spoke on a special topic in the field of interpersonal work relations: "How to improve communication between generations in work teams".

Results of the participant survey:

After a positive experience with the electronic form of filling out the questionnaire on Google forms accessible via QR code (again processed and delivered by the ProCS company), this year the participant survey was also in this form. The questions remained the same as in previous surveys, so that individual years could be compared. The survey was not anonymous so that prize winners could be drawn for completing the survey. 80 responses were submitted, which is 23% and quite a drop from last year (40%).

The results of the survey are presented in tables and the comparison of ratings for all grades is processed in a graph.

The rating was slightly worse than in the previous year, when the ratings were historically the best. For most, only the date of the conference was better this time than a year ago. Overall, however, the rating remains at a very high level and the high standard is maintained.

The participants again rated the three presentations they liked the most. The ranking was determined only by the number of votes received.
